Biography

Michael J. O’Hara is a partner at O’Hara-Buthray Associates, Inc., a firm that provides real estate valuation and consulting services in central Massachusetts. The firm consists of nine appraisers (two commercial and seven residential).

Mr. O’Hara has been actively engaged in real estate valuation and consulting since 1987. Recent experience is concentrated in urban and suburban developments. Valuations have been performed on various properties including, but not limited to, neighborhood and community shopping centers, retail buildings, restaurant buildings, apartment complexes, single and multi‐tenanted industrial buildings, low to high rise office buildings, golf courses, hotels, mobile home parks, mixed used facilities, and vacant land for different uses. Clients served include accountants, law firms, lenders, private and public agencies. Valuations have been performed for condemnation purposes, estate planning, financing, divorce, and due diligence support. Valuations have been done on proposed, partially completed, renovated and existing structures.

Mr. O’Hara has qualified as an expert witness in United States Federal Bankruptcy Court, Worcester County Superior Court, and Appellate Tax Board. He has a B.A. in Economics, Assumption College, Worcester, MA (1987). He is a Certified General Real Estate Appraiser in Massachusetts (License #932) and holds the MAI designation (#10,120) from the Appraisal Institute. He has also completed numerous real estate real estate related courses and seminars sponsored by the Appraisal Institute and other accredited organizations. He is currently certified by the Appraisal Institute’s voluntary program of continuing education for its designated members.
